Liquid silicone turns solid through either addition curing (catalysed by platinum) or condensation curing (catalysed by tin). Silicone made with platinum catalysts shrinks less, releases fewer by-products and stays stable for longer.

What that means for a doll

Platinum-cured bodies keep their shape and dimensions better, carry very low odour and are less likely to turn brittle with age. For something you'll handle and keep for years, it's the preferred choice — and a key reason silicone beats TPE on longevity.
